Naginata was a long wooden weapon with a metal curved blade at the end.  This was a weapon that was quite useful for foot soldiers against horsemen.  Taika taught one kata which we do not know the name of.  No other naginata kata you see on the internet from formal, post-war schools look anything like this form shown at right performed by Vicky Lynn at one of the birthday conferences.
